A&S Trucking was officially founded in 1982 as an operating company run by the Schmidt family, whose history in the industry dates back to the turn of the century. In 2005, the company expanded from a regional dry and temperature-control carrier and added warehousing in the Hunt Valley and Baltimore areas, allowing it to offer supply chain solutions to its core customers.
In 2009, the company entered into a financial and strategic alliance with Larson MacColl Partners and began its growth into a full array of services under its new corporate name: A&S Services Group, LLC.
Beginning in 2009 and continuing until 2014 when the company made its final transition with its acquisition by Celadon Group, Inc., A&S Services Group, LLC continued to grow as a powerhouse of transportation services in the Northeast. It achieved this organic growth through select, service-sensitive customers and the following strategic acquisitions: The Blue Diamond Group in 2010; Den-El Transfer in 2011; Kinard Trucking, Inc. in 2012; and B&B Services Inc. and Servu Incorporated in 2013.
Today A&S Services Group, LLC operates as an independent subsidiary of Celadon and offers local, regional and dedicated trucking solutions in the Northeast under its A&S Kinard brand. They also provide warehousing and distribution services in Pennsylvania and Maryland with rail-sidings and food-grade capabilities. A&S Intermodal is strategically located in all major ports on the East Coast and is expanding into domestic drayage to service railhead markets. A&S Kinard Logistics offers brokerage for over-the-road truckload for all modes and supply-chain solutions.
