November 2015 Drivers of the Month

Joseph Tolbert

Joseph got into driving trucks because he “wanted to do something different,” but he has already proven to be a skilled driver in less than a year with Celadon. He joined the team after hearing from another Celadon driver who had enjoyed being with the company for over 15 years.

What drives Joseph to be successful?
Family is very important to him, and Joseph has five children and a fiancée he enjoys spending time with while not on the road. He also would like to give a shout out to his late mother.

What advice does Joseph have for other drivers?
“If the wheels ain’t turning, you ain’t making no money,” he said. “Stay safe, and stay moving. Be on time.”

What is a saying that he has about driving?
In the winter, Joseph likes to say “Only go as fast as you would want to crash.”

What does he enjoy about driving for Celadon?
We keep him moving and making money, he says. “My DM does a good job with me. She works with me and keeps me moving and is there for me.”

Jonathan Jones

Jonathan started driving because his father and grandfather were both truck drivers. He is a no-nonsense driver who likes to run hard and advises others to “keep grinding and hustling.” His personal motto on the road is “Get it done!”

What encouraged Jonathan to join Celadon?
Talking to other drivers influenced him, and he said the equipment is superior.

What strategy does Jonathan use while working?
“If you’re not driving, you’re not making money. If you’re sitting, you’re not making money. If you’re not looking for loads, you’re not making money,” he said. Jonathan says he pushes his DM and makes sure he stays loaded. He has worked out with his DM when loads should get sent to him.

What drives his success on the road?
Jonathan has a 2-year-old daughter, Jayla. He is driven to support his wife and daughter and stays safe so he can come home to them. He “does not want to jeopardize his career or hurt someone else.”

What comments did he have about winning Driver of the Month?
Jonathan says, “Thanks for the recognition, but I am just doing my job.”
